中共一个翻译小心思
众所周知，有一个叫民族自决的原则，可以用于支持一些国家的独立合法性，然后我看到一些人用这些原则来论证台湾独立的合法性被小粉红说，台湾人和大陆人基本上都属于华人。这是既定事实，于是我看了一下联合国原文。

其中根本没有民族，就是为了防止有人学习其中思想来套用到台湾，而读英文原文的很少也会发现这个问题。

这里的nationalities毫无疑问指的是民族而不是国家，因为如果译为国家语句不通，因为这里的“other nationalities”的“其他 nationalities”是相对于“奥斯曼帝国土耳其部分”来说的，显然奥斯曼帝国土耳其部分不是一个国家。

Peoples在这个语境里翻译成民族不算错，因为他就是用来描述处于殖民统治之下或刚从殖民统治中解放出来、想要把自己发明成欧陆式民族的原住民（indigenous peoples）的。比如一般习惯把西北太平洋海岸讲萨利什诸语的40多个原住民民族群称为Salish Peoples，即诸萨利什民族。
至于香港人台湾人跟中国人能不能或该不该算在同一个诸华夏民族（Chinese Peoples）里那就另当别论了。
