對普丁來說是一場豪賭，他必須速戰速決，在最短時間內令烏克蘭投降。當然不是佔據整個烏克蘭，是要烏克蘭願意承認克里米亞，和頓巴斯地區獨立。
但是目前攻勢並不太順利，反抗比想像中大，刺針導彈當年在阿富汗，令蘇軍損失大量直昇機的情況再現。
而普丁不能令俄羅斯在打勝的情況下完結戰爭，那普丁都是對管治威信的一大打擊。
