Youth in Taiwan: how Chinese view Taiwan
A youth in Taiwan wants to know how Chinese (mainland China) view Taiwan?
(Translated from https://pincong.rocks/question/25681)
Hi everyody, I am a youth in Taiwan, now in 3rd year of senior high school. I have been anti communist for a long time, particilarly on 2016. That year on Weibo (Chinese social media app) I posted 'Taiwan is a sovereign country'. Afterwards thousands of little pinks joined together and attacked my post. Then I researched the terms 'little pink' and 'wumao' (50 cent), and also discovered wumaos have permeated many places, this further my anti communism views.
Actually I know there are anti communists in China, this is why I found I am quite comfortable here, discussing with you.
I support you all, to pursue democracy. I cheer you on! Also I want to thank you for your support to our Taiwan.
I didn't post here for some time, so I want to know your views on our Taiwan.

Don’t try to persuade ordinary Chinese people in real life, or you will risk your life, Li Wenzhe is a example for you. At least you will irritate them and be isolated. It is better for you to hide your real thoughts and echo their arguments.
In Mainland China, people are taught that Taiwan is an “inseparable or inalienable”part of China, “to defend the territorial integrity”,the communist government will take all practical measures to “restore or liberate Taiwan”.
However, they are lack of the knowledge about Taiwan, just like the history in Taiwan after 1945. Like some of my high school classmates, they even don’t know “the existence of Republic of China after 1949 until now”(Though you like it or not or identify it as a exile regime, actualy ROC is existing right?)
Because in the history textbook published in Mainland China, the history of “ROC on/in Taiwan”is obsured, lots of students just know that”April 1949, the Nationalist government was overthrown by PLA, and communists established the PRC in October”, the history book does not tell them that the Nationalist government retreated from Nanjing to Guangzhou in February 1949, then to Chongqing, to Chengdu, eventually went to Taipei in December 1949. This period is a mess for them—no wonder they are ignorant, misled and actually they misunderstand Taiwanese people.
The truth is Taiwan is never controlled by the PRC, and most of the Taiwanese don’t welcome the takeover by CCP. From the perspective of the Chinese history, you can not say that”Hangzhou was a part of Jin dynasty”because the army of Jin never occupied this area so it could not be a part of Jin dynasty.
Though some(not all, lot of countries just “acknowledge”even”take note of”the claim of sovereignty over Taiwan by PRC)diplomatic friends of PRC recognized that Taiwan is a part of PRC, however if their citizens want to go to Taiwan they have to apply for visa in the Taiwan cultural and economic office rather than the embassy or consulate of PRC. This is a practical action to deny the claim of PRC.
Most of the opinions of brainless Wumaos are so ridiculous and weak, such as “ROC(Taiwan) is not a member of UN”, so what about the PRC before 1971?What about the Switzerland before 2002?UN rules that “sovereignty nations can join”but not “only members of UN are sovereign countries”, non-members can be sovereign nations too.Or 50-cents will mock like this, “how many diplomatic partners do ROC have?”So if a man have few even doesn’t have friends, he is not a man anymore? And what about the Soviet Union and PRC in its early isolated days?
So I can definitely say that wumaos are utter idiots.Such differences between PRC and ROC are the difference of strength—weak or strong, but Wumao says that the weaker one, ROC(Taiwan), is not existing, except for insane people who will agree with their ridiculous arguments?
Essentially The difference between you and Wumao is the definition of the word “Taiwan”.
Wumao identify Taiwan as “ a province or special administrative region of PRC”,and in your opinion,” Taiwan “is another name of Republic of China”.
So we can solve the problem. The truth is that ROC is not a province or a local or a rebelling government of PRC, the difference between ROC and PRC is just the scale of the armed force or GDP or territory, these differences don’t mean the affiliation of ROC to PRC.

Taiwan is part of China, Period.
Not how China view Formosa! View something is use on Chinese. Not use on English. Is how China think about Formosa.
