On June 22, 2025, Taiwan President Lai Ching-te launched the “Ten Lectures on National Unity” series, with “Nation” as the inaugural theme, emphasizing Taiwan’s sovereign independence and democratic values. In his inaugural lecture, President Lai Ching-te clearly stated that Taiwan possesses the “four elements of a nation”—people, territory, government, and sovereignty—and refuted the CCP’s distortion of UN Resolution 2758, which falsely claims sovereignty over Taiwan. He emphasized that the Treaty of San Francisco never transferred Taiwan’s sovereignty to the People’s Republic of China, and the CCP has never ruled Taiwan for a single day. These arguments, grounded in historical facts and international law, dismantle the CCP’s false narrative and affirm Taiwan’s legitimacy and independence as a sovereign nation. The Liberty Party firmly believes that Taiwan’s 23 million people have the right to determine their own future, and the CCP’s authoritarian regime, led by Xi Jinping, has neither the right nor the legitimacy to interfere.

The “Ten Lectures on National Unity” not only clearly defines Taiwan’s national identity but also firmly commits to the values of democracy and freedom. President Lai Ching-te emphasized that democracy and freedom have taken root in Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu. This aligns closely with the Liberty Party’s pursuit of democratic constitutionalism and resistance against authoritarian oppression. For decades, the CCP has attempted to annex Taiwan through military threats and false propaganda, suppressing its free will, but the Taiwanese people have proven the value and resilience of freedom through decades of democratic practice. President Lai’s call for unity aims to consolidate domestic consensus, resist external threats, and safeguard hard-won democratic achievements.

He consistently grounded his arguments in facts, calmly analyzing Taiwan’s international status and historical context. This rational stance not only reflects Taiwan’s confidence but also provides a constructive perspective for the complex dynamics of cross-strait relations. The Liberty Party believes that true unity extends beyond Taiwan’s borders to encompass all groups resisting CCP tyranny and pursuing freedom. However, we also note that the CCP’s Taiwan Affairs Office maliciously attacked the “Ten Lectures on National Unity,” slandering it as a “Taiwan independence declaration,” a tactic consistent with its usual intimidation. The CCP’s criticism only proves the precision and effectiveness of President Lai’s lecture—it strikes at the core of the authoritarian regime, exposing its illegitimate designs on Taiwan’s sovereignty. The Liberty Party strongly condemns the CCP’s smears and threats and calls on the international community to confront the CCP’s suppression of Taiwan’s democracy and support the Taiwanese people’s legitimate right to pursue freedom.

The Liberty Party firmly believes that Taiwan’s democratic experience serves as a vital beacon in resisting authoritarianism. Lai Ching-te’s “Ten Lectures on National Unity” offers inspiration to all regions and peoples pursuing freedom. We call on all sectors of Taiwanese society to unite, transcend partisan divides, and collectively defend the foundation of democracy and freedom. However, we also note that the CCP’s Taiwan Affairs Office maliciously attacked the “Ten Lectures on National Unity,” slandering it as a “Taiwan independence declaration,” a tactic consistent with its usual intimidation. The CCP’s criticism only proves the precision and effectiveness of President Lai’s lecture—it strikes at the core of the authoritarian regime, exposing its illegitimate designs on Taiwan’s sovereignty. The Liberty Party strongly condemns the CCP’s smears and threats and calls on the international community to confront the CCP’s suppression of Taiwan’s democracy and support the Taiwanese people’s legitimate right to pursue freedom.

The Liberty Party firmly believes that Taiwan’s democratic experience serves as a vital beacon in resisting authoritarianism. Lai Ching-te’s “Ten Lectures on National Unity” offers inspiration to all regions and peoples pursuing freedom. We call on all sectors of Taiwanese society to unite, transcend partisan divides, and collectively defend the foundation of democracy and freedom.
