I understand that a thought being expressed is neutral, and not morally bad. Yet, it's merely one of all events that happened when they did what they did. (In order not to get you confused, I need to mention, the comments in the images from OP's link are the least offensive ones, many others are really coarse, as noted in that girl's diary or something.)
They used the authority of "the society" and "the crew" to disgrace and horrify this girl, and hurt her dignity(I know you used to think the hurt of feelings is voluntary, but this is actually done by some mechanism related to the sense of horror and anxiety, which happens without your consent when you're in that situation. When you need to defend yourself or insist something it would be easy to get triggered, just imagine when you're asked to answer a question in school. For military uses, we can even stun people to get them frozen) meanwhile posing an unspoken threat to her, that is, whatever could happen to her when she becomes a villain on the Chinese Internet.
Even if the things are simpler, being impolite is a bad thing. I believe you, a typical(I also have reference for this one) Brit, think it's wrong, right? And that's not all, not just the speeches, the ideas behind them can also be categorized as wrong, ethically or factually, I think.
