Well...no offense, but I won't call it 'defaming' since Tesla's current quality is actually not ideal. Making reliable cars is a complicated business that usually takes at least decades to perfect (good examples are Japanese and Korean brands). The rise of Tesla follows the trajectory of an IT company, which in principle should not result in a big success in the auto industry. Chinese auto companies themselves in fact are aiding this point. Because non of them yet to achieve anything big despite the expenditure of huge amount of money and human resources.
Having said that, auto-pilot is no more than an algorithm and a bunch of sensors, so it's a home game for IT companies like HW and Google. The algorithm can be tuned directly by the data collected by engineers, so it's much easier than making good cars (where the response is very sluggish). I won't be surprised if they pull it off sometime soon.

I think it's just some Chinese marketing strategies that defame your competitor's product when you're launching yours. Look at the negative Apple news when Huawei launching something. Btw, China has a lot of electronic cars launched recently.
This is how China steals technology. This is exactly what is happening to Tesla right now.
1) CCP invites stupid foreign company to do business in China. China has 1 billion people right? foreign company gets greedy and decides to invest because of the massive market potential.
2) foreign company partners up with local Chinese company. Starts doing business and making some money. Local company and CCP secretely steal western technology.
3) Once the technology and production techniques have been extracted from stupid foreign company, it is no longer of any use to the CCP. the CCP denounces the foreign company and uses dirty tactics like fake patents, rigged legal system, dirty business tactics etc to kick out the foreign company and let home grown businesses take over.

I am also interesting in that topic. I suspect it has some hidden reasons behind. I noticed that HUAWEI has revealed its auto-drive electric car. The release date was very close to this Tesla crisis. What a coincidence. I feel like this case may have connections to part of CCP’s business propagandas.
