I doubt they will. "A masochistic personality is a disorder in which a person derives pleasure from inflicting pain on oneself or others." Mental masochism, in the form of seeking intense fear and pressure, helps one experience existence and the meaning of life if they do not have a healthy, normal life. Living under Chinese tyranny can create those urges. This user is not alone. We have similar cases right now. They just don't know how much they can take before breakdown, and they are refusing to or incapable of knowing it.

surely it is a conversation platform, we see the overspill of thoughts from people in daily life. I just hope not too many are going to implement those actions. (I know, a few have already occurred)
First, let's avoid the scenario that someone plans to kill themselves/stab others, then go ahead and do it somewhere, then we 1. see that user offline 2. see that user posting such 3. hear it on the news. That where the containment gets a bit more necessary. It is strange to think, maybe one life, or a dozen is up to what we say.

You have a noble heart. But I'm afraid it is fallacious and counterproductive.
Both the butterfly effect and the slippery slope are based on the following premise: if A causes B, and B causes C, and C causes D, ……… and Y causes Z, then A led to Z. As soon as you let A happen, you’re letting Z happen. If you just hadn’t done A, then Z wouldn’t have happened. (And according to the butterfly effect, something totally different would have happened instead.)
This premise is fallacious because it assumes that there is only one node in world history, which was at the time when A happened. In reality, the universe either is or is not deterministic. If it is deterministic, then there was only ever one way that things could have unfolded anyway. Meanwhile, if it is not deterministic, then there is a whole branching tree of possibilities, such that A doesn’t control everything that follows. (See Part 4.) And if you plot the probability that Z will happen as a function of time, you can see that A does not have a significant effect on the probability of Z (see Part 5).
Once you have identified this logical fallacy, you have debunked both the slippery slope and the butterfly effect.(Source)

Also I mentioned to Nederland many times, you can save no one and kill no one, but he seems to be too kind-hearted to give up on the first one. Maybe he will realize soon, given the deteriorating situations.
(if you followed a few answers from me, you knew how rebellious those boys were growing up around my youth. but look at China today (and Russia, to a lesser extent). I don't think whatever Nederland does to them can even make a dent. They tend to be well beyond salvage to my eyes)

There won't be, because Pincong is not based in PRC, but the reputation will be damned, as you and @Nederland mentioned in our previous discussions—the razor thin line—remember? My case is simple. The intervention is mandatory. Once made, it is no longer the forum's liability. It is why I am all for the argument that the user should be denied access once the proper intervention is attempted. But I am not a member of the management. I have no say in this. I am just deeply concerned and worried about you and the forum that I find valuable.

reputation wise, I don't see it as worrying (at least not as a priority) as the censorship, dirt digging are enough from the CCP and this website is offline regularly around noon on business days in China's timezone. Whoever choosing to stay will stay, whoever saying it is a propaganda will keep believing so.
specifically, I disagree about access denial in fear of further deterioration, in very selected situations, and this is one of them. I heard about people taking life after WeChat got locked out (that's stupid) and given how the person is, I don't trust the mental stability neither.

And one very last thing, I am really troubled by your last few lines sent to the kid, promising that you will veto the ban. A managerial action is different from a personal view. Thank you. It is not the first difficult situation I have, and I have many other worse cases I don't enjoy.
Of course it is not a good situation. All we can do is hope. (but I was somewhat the same many years ago myself, a bit differently)
And I am aware of that. I just hope this gives him assurance that he will not be abandoned by me (while he is somewhat disappointed at Nederland, and I think it is not justified), reducing the chance of suicide attempt. But you know there is only very little I can do. I hope this is enough kindness and companionship to last long enough for him to figure things out later.
Putting this amount of leverage purely virtually is utterly irresponsible, but younger kids behave kind of differently. I really don't understand anymore.

Consider the user has barely any of these self-management measures to carry out a study plan:
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Relevant
Time-bound
an explorer encyclopedia set would not be productive, which can even be counterproductive consider the user's family and financial background. I highly recommend that you reconsider before giving such specific recommendations when a user is so mentally dependent on you. Remember, the user is about to reach the point of becoming a young adult without a trade, a usable language, and a mentality that is unemployable, Self-teaching with a set of encyclopedia is a luxury, not a rescue. I hope you can see that even as a foreigner.

that part of the disconnection is real: I was reading that set of book (albeit quite an older version) when I was 10 years younger than him now. And there is only so much of a fluid intelligence left after a certain age.
I really don't know what to do in that scenario, because I never face it myself: I had two usable languages, strength in few fields for the knowledge and somewhat enough surviving instinct around that age, despite having really really bad grades. (almost as bad as him frankly. a bit better, maybe, but not by much)
Yet I tend to have the habit of dipping into the luxuries, not the basics... different environment, maybe, or different mindset.

Thanks for reconsidering. You meant well, but books like those could backfire, for A) they aren't SMART-adaptable, which means the user can read them all day without acquiring anything practical to improve their life or health, and more importantly B) they aren't adaptable to Chinese parenting. If the user needs an immediate crisis funding to extend their education, while doing so involves getting their parents to see that they are on the right track, books like those would be counterproductive. That's how Chinese parents are. Those books are deemed disconnected from standardized education. They would be considered as leisure, not study, unfortunately.

I guess that's where the fundamental clash is between the different cultures, the British/American approach and those methods derived from the Soviet Union, and I don't think a compromise is possible given his situation/environment. I rarely get along with those sticking to the Soviet principles in terms of education or psychology.
